HOW TO GET RID OF PROCRASTINATION TO BE MORE PRODUCTIVE

How to Get Rid of Procrastination to Be More Productive • I’ve been procrastinating all my life. I’m the Greatest Procrastinator in the world. Procrastination is fun, but guilt I feel after wasting months and years of my life is not. 

That feeling of guilt made me look deeper and find the very root of my procrastination. For good many years, I’ve believed that the reason for procrastination is poor time management. 

HOW TO GET RID OF PROCRASTINATION • HOW I BECAME MORE PRODUCTIVE 

I’ve tried all kinds of devices, calendars to be more productive. At first they would work for some time until they didn’t. I would start strong, but I’d eventually end up being stuck. 

One of my favorite ways to waste my time is to watch YouTube videos. One day a new video popped up on my feed. It was a recommended video. I clicked. 

The video almost took my breath away. The speaker debunked all the myths about procrastination. According to the speaker, poor time management is the result of procrastination, not the cause.

THE REAL REASON WHY DO WE PROCRASTINATE? • HOW TO GET RID OF PROCRASTINATION AND BECOME PRODUCTIVE

The actual cause of procrastination is poor mood management. It was my another Aha! Moment. All of a sudden everything fell into place. 

The very cause of procrastination is invisible just like we can not see the root of a tree. It controls us, our lives and all the decisions that we make.

My new discovery explained everything. I would work towards my goals and act with passion on some days and did not feel like it on other days. 

Saying, “I am just not in the mood” was typical of me, but I did not take it seriously at all. I could not believe that the reason why I would feel motivated one day and unable to act the next day was my mood.

CURE FOR PROCRASTINATION

Once I realized that truth, I did my own research. Looking back and seeing that I could not accomplish anything scared me so much that I decided to take control.

Here is what I did to “cure” my procrastination and become more productive:

To be more productive I needed to understand my mood. My mood, emotions and feelings are like the weather. 

Today it is sunny and warm, but it can’t guarantee that tomorrow will be the same. We do not try to control the weather. We have learned how to keep going despite any weather conditions. 

If it is warm, we wear light clothes. If it is cold, we pick our outfits accordingly. We use umbrellas for rain, gloves for winter, and hats for cold.

DO THIS ONE THING TO BE MORE PRODUCTIVE 

Our mood is just like that weather. Today we are happy and excited about tomorrow and ready to pursue our goals. Tomorrow we may not feel or be in the mood we would like to be.

However, just like the weather can not stop me from living my life, I have learned not to let my mood control me.

There is no way of making Summer last all year. Seasons alternate whether we want it or not. So does our mood. 

IT IS SIMPLE TO BE MORE PRODUCTIVE 

From that moment on, I have had a poster in my room with a quote, “Your mood is like the weather. It will pass. This moment will never come back. It’s OK to take small steps, but don’t stop!”
